3 drawings. Pen and ink on paper. Includes:

  • Hank Monk Handling  the "Ribbons." 28.5x35 cm (11x14"). Chip to top left corner, toning, areas of light staining and soiling; very good. Signed and dated at the bottom right corner. 1929.
  • Reckless Ralph Surrounded by Dime Novel Characters. 21.5x28 cm (8½x11"). Some light creasing and staining; very good. Signed and dated at the bottom left corner. 1937.
  • Fred E. Sutton, Crooked S. Kid. 51x23.5 cm (9¼x20¼").  Includes a single page manuscript letter, dated Jan. 17, '37, letter from western feature writer Fred E. Sutton, thanking Rawson for the drawing and requesting more. Also included is a print of the photograph on which the drawing is based. Closed tears to bottom edge, a few other chips  and minor tears to edges, toning and light staining; letter with toning and chips to edges, larger chips to left side with a bit of loss to text; very good. Signed at the bottom left [1937].

H. O. Rawson was a noted Western artist who made pen and ink drawings from either photographs or real life. From 1900 through the 1930's he went about making drawings of as many important personalities of the American West as he could. He self published these drawings as cards and distributed them for sale.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
