Title page printed in blue and black. (8vo), blue cloth decorated in silver, illustrated dust jacket; housed in custom cloth clamshell box with black morocco spine label lettered in gilt. First Edition. 

Signed by Bishop on the title page: "Elizabeth Bishop - Poetry Town - February 1st, 1978."  Scarce signed copy of the poet's first book, winner of the Houghton Mifflin Poetry Award, housed in handsome custom box.

Some wear and soiling to jacket, with darkening, minor chips and tears to edges with a bit of repair work done to verso near top edge, light wear to cloth with rubbing to extremities, some darkening to edges; light toning to endpapers, a solid copy; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
