(8vo) original beige pictorial cloth, color pictorial jacket with wrap-around artwork by Elmer Hader. First Edition.

First edition of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic. Steinbeck's greatest novel, an epic story of migratory workers during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Acclaimed the twentieth-century Uncle Tom's Cabin, it was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1940. John Ford directed the well-received film starring Henry Fonda as Tom Joad. Perhaps the most influential, and best remembered book to come out of the Great Depression. The jacket flap corners are clipped (as issued) with the original printed price and "First Edition" statement still present. Goldstone and Payne A12a.

Jacket spine a bit darkened, rubbing to ends and corners, 1ΒΌ" tear along rear joint from spine head; near fine in very good or better jacket, nicer than usually found.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
