Asahel Nettleton (1783-1844), was an itinerant evangelist from Connecticut who, according to the DAB "Never had settled pastorate, never married, never asked remuneration for his services, but with single-minded zeal devoted himself to the awakening of souls." The lead with the Morse's Telegraphic Alphabet is not explained, but is an early version of what became Morse Code.
