2 octavo volumes. Includes:

  • Dumb Animal. Original purple cloth, gilt lettering. A presentation copy inscribed to the to the dedicatee of the title story, “For dearest Francis, / to whom the / first story is dedicated, / with almost / all the author’s affection, / Osbert. 1930.” Cloth soiled and slightly damp-stained, mild corner bumps; very good. Duckworth, 1930.
  • Dickens. Red buckram spine, decorated black and white boards, gilt lettering, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Light toning to boards; near fine or better. First Edition, large paper issue. No. 4 of 110 numbered copies signed by Sitwell at the limitation. Chatto & Windus, 1932.

Sir Francis Osbert Sacheverell Sitwell, 5th Baronet was an English writer. His elder sister was Edith Sitwell and his younger brother was Sacheverell Sitwell. Like them, he devoted his life to art and literature.

Lots sold without reserve are sold "as Is" and are not returnable under any circumstances. The minimum shipping and handling per invoice is $25 for shipments to the US and $40 for shipments sent outside the US Please consider this when determining your bid amounts.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
