A selection of illustrated works from the Limited Editions Club. All are signed by the artists, as issued, with the exception of An American Tragedy, which was published posthumously. 

Includes:

  • Dickens, Charles. The Cricket on the Hearth. Illustrated after Hugh Thomson with 7 color plates. Original cloth, slipcase. Fair amount of wear to slipcase, split along side, top panel detached but present; volume very good with light soiling to cloth; light toning to endpapers. No. 1181 of 1500 copies. New York, 1933. 
  • Le Sage, Alain Rene. The Adventures of Gil Blas of Santillane. 2 volumes. Signed by John Austen, the illustrator. Translated by Tobias Smollett, introduction by J. B. Priestley.Original cloth, dust jackets. Some darkening to jacket and cloth spines; about near fine. No. 1323 of 1500 copies. Oxford, 1935.
  • Smollett, Tobias. The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle. 2 volumes. Signed by John Austen, the illustrator. Introduction by G. K. Chesterton. Original cloth, dust jackets, original slipcase. Wear and soiling to slipcase, repaired with clear tape at edges; light foxing to jackets, darkening to spines, chips to head and heels of  jacket spines, light wear to cloth; about near fine volumes in very good jackets. No. 1463 of 1500 copies. Oxford, 1936.
  • Hersholt, Jean, editor. The Evergreen Tales; or, Tales For The Ageless: Joseph & His Brothers, Aladdin & The Wonderful Lamp, The Three Bears. 3 volumes. Illustrated in color. Each volume signed by Jean Hersholt and the respective artist. Original pictorial cloth, original slipcase. each volume No. 1274 of 2500 copies. Some general light wear and soiling to bindings; interiors bright; very good or better.  New York, 1949.
  • Dreiser, Theodore. An American Tragedy. Introduction by Harry Hansen. Illustrated by Reginald Marsh but not signed (his final work, issued posthumously).  Original cloth, slipcase. We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
