Historic Lithographs of San Francisco

Baird, Joseph Armstrong, Jr., & Edwin Clyve Evans

San Francisco

Steven A. Waterson for Burger & Evans

With 48 plates reproducing original 19th century lithographs and engravings of San Francisco. (Oblong folio) 59x83 cm (22¼x34½"), blue cloth. No. 35 of 150 copies printed.

With short inscription on the dedication page by publisher Edward C. Evans. Legendary gathering of the lithographs and birds-eye views of early San Francisco. Originally planned as a run of 1000 copies, the massive size and printing costs of these volumes allowed for only about 150 copies to be printed, according to publisher William Burger. An impressive collection of historic lithographs of San Francisco.

Lot Amendments

Light wear to binding with a bit of tearing to cloth at spine head; offsetting to pastedowns, vertical crease near gutter to frontispiece and blank pages at front and rear, crease to tip of top page corners throughout; very good.
