20 volumes. Chief Editor, Milton Whitney. Illustrated with hundreds of large folding color maps of various sizes. (8vo), text volumes in original cloth, most with gilt spines, maps loose in original boxes. 

The first graphic and extensive study of the nation’s soil types and their distribution, including a monumental inventory and numerous important maps, issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Ex-University of Wyoming library set with inked call-numbers or paper labels on spines, many of the text volumes with rubberstamps or other marks. Several of the individual maps were inspected and none of those had any library marks or stamps.

Reports include: Map volume for 1900, Third Report text and map volumes, 1901; The Fourth Report and the 44 folding color maps bound together, 1902 (lacks entire cloth covers and spine); Fifth Report text and map volumes,1903; map volumes for 1904 and 1905; Tenth Report text and map volumes, 1908; map volume for 1911;  Fifteenth Report text and map volumes, 1913; Eighteenth Report text and map volumes, 1916; map volumes for 1917 and 1919; Twenty-third Report text and map volumes, 1921; Twenty-fourth Report text volume, 1922.

Lot Amendments

General soiling and edge wear, most of the folding boxes containing the maps with loose, separated, or missing parts, other expected age wear; many of the text volume bindings shaken; maps chiefly in very good or better condition, most near-fine, some with occasional short tears at folds, most not examined individually; a very good set overall; map volumes not individually collated but appear complete; sold as is.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
