Illustrated with 24 (of 30) hand-colored mounted albumen photographs (3 in each volume); halftones from photographs in the text; 7 (of 10) color collotype frontispieces from photographs of flowers. Printed on double-leaves. (Folio) 39x31 cm (15½x11¾") original full brocade silk over boards, each volume with a different cloth pattern, paper cover labels. Volume 5 has been stripped of its cloth and binding strings. No. 3 of 1000 copies of the Yedo Edition.

Sumptuous presentation noteworthy for the hand-colored albumen photographs as well as for the scholarly text. Contains classic late nineteenth century hand-colored albumen and other photographs of various Japanese views, including tea ceremonies, bridges, gardens, cherry blossoms, flower and produce vendors, temples, theater scenes, city and rural life, women in traditional dress, etc.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
