Handsome set of Skelton's masterful illustrated depiction of Oxford. Skelton re-engraved eight-seven of the Oxford Almanacks for the present work, and the remainder were derived from a variety of sources. Skelton also included a large folding plan of Oxford, which is a reduction of the Agas plan first published in 1588, and copied by Whittlesey in 1728. Despite the claim of upwards of 170 engravings, the plates are numbered up to 157, and numbers 2-25 wre never produced - although some of the 133 plates carry two views.
