Illustrated with facsimiles, inserted leaves and plates from various Grabhorn publications. (Folio) original tan kidskin and linen boards, raised bands, spine title lettered in blind. One of 210 copies printed on French handmade paper by the Grabhorn Press.

Scarce first edition of the first Grabhorn bibliography. Laid in is a printed announcement of the Grabhorn Press relocation during World War II, to provide space for their neighbor, "a manufacturer of vital war materials". The press moved from Commercial St. to 1335 Sutter. Laid in, in addition to a few Grabhorn Press prospectuses, is a Varga centerfold from a 1941 magazine with the WWII Christmas poem "From Bill With Love"..

Lot Amendments

A few stains to spine and front board, mild rubbing to spine; light toning to rear endpapers and colophon from laid in newspaper clippings; ownership marks with two signature chops on front free endpaper; very good or better.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
