1½ page manuscript letter on single sheet of blue paper, with illustration of miners in blue pencil. Postal cancel stamp from Stockton, CA dated March 31. 40x26 cm (15½x10"). 

1852 letter sent from Merced, CA to Tennessee, datelined Merced County, March 11 1852.  With hand drawn illustration on the last page of two miners in blue pencil, one holding pan with gold, colored in yellow pencil. Man sitting with rocker, pick and shovel near their diggings, Sierra mountains in the background.

"I am now in the southern mines but have quit mining and am going to farming, our friend WM Mr. Steel passed here a few days since & i learned by him that you had gone home. mention if Miss Todd married yet. mention would give a OZ to day to see her. mention taken sick the day after i got here so that i did no work for four to five months, that is what takes the change now. Write Soon, Direct to Stockton. Signed Goe. L. Brackin."

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
