3 volumes bound in 1. Three frontispieces and numerous woodcut illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot Browne and decorated initials in the text. (Large 8vo), finely bound by Riviere & Son in full polished calf with gilt-tooled borders, spine with raised bands, gilt decorated compartments, red and green morocco spine labels lettered in gilt; gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt; cloth slipcase. First Edition in book form, preceded by the serial issue and the parts issue.

Gimbel A51; NCBEL III, 794. The weekly serial publication format of Master Humphrey's Clock was an experiment by Dickens and Chapman and Hall, but after The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge appeared in the series, they returned to the monthly parts issue format. Master Humphrey's Clock had the unusual distinction of appearing in three formats: 88 weekly serial parts, 20 monthly parts and in book form, three volumes in cloth.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
