A refutation of Patriarch Nectarius of Jerusalem who in his work "Peri arches tou Papa" had brushed back Roman Catholic influence among Christians under the Ottoman Empire, Le Quien maintained the primacy of the pope with historical proofs derived chiefly from the Orient. Institutional stamps on title page, with number on foot of spine.

Condition:
Mild rubbing at spine ends, soiling and stains to somewhat bowed boards, ragged edged title page repaired with tape on verso, toning to some pages, occasional worming; very good.
