3 volumes. [10], xxxvi, 464, [27]; [6], 522, [38]; [4], [33] pp. With 9 copper-engraved plates, 2 of them folding. (8vo) 16.5x9.5 cm (6½x3¾"), later half calf & mottled boards, spines gilt, raised bands, morocco lettering pieces, marbled endpapers & edges.

Political and satirical work which criticized the excesses of the Catholic League and Spanish pretensions during the Wars of Religion in France and defended the idea of an independent but Catholic France. First published in 1594. Each with bookplates of Annibal Fernandes Thomaz and Frederick I. Ordway III.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
