DUNHILL-NAMIKI: No. 6 Dragon-Crested Kabuto [Samurai Helmet] Maki-e and Raden Fountain Pen, Vest Form, with Original Box






Dunhill-Namiki pen decorated with a dragon-crested samurai helmet (kabuto) in gold, vermillion and autumnal pigments in a combination of techniques including sprinkled togidashi-maki-e, raised takamaki-e, gold-flake okibirame and inset mother-of-pearl raden on black lacquer ground. Flat-top vest-form body, gold-plated cap band and Namiki clip. Lever-filler ("lifebouy" style Namiki lever).  131mm. Large 14K gold No. 6 Dunhill-Namiki heart-vent nib, good flexibility. Signed by the artist, kanji unknown. In the original illustrated black paper over boards Dunhill-Namiki box, red paper lining, inner lid imprinted in gilt: "Alfred Dunhill Ltd. / London / Paris - New York". Very fine to excellent condition, light rubs to endpiece and section, pressure bar loose inside of barrel.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. For international shipments are preferred carrier is FedEx..For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
