LA PLUME d'OR: Météore No. 1 Propelling-Nib Fountain Pen, Black Hard Rubber

La Plume d'Or

Météore No. 1 button-filler fountain pen with propelling nib, black hard rubber over brass lining, gold-plated bands, brass clip and captop device, unsigned cap and barrel, clip engraved "PATENT". 141mm. Full-flex 18K gold heart-vent nib engraved "D & D / PARIS" (Demley & Degan were the founders of La Plume d’Or, the French company which licensed the propelling nib technology from UK-based Pullman). The nib is extended and retracted by pushing up and pulling down the barrel, which opens and closes the hinged crown atop the non-removable cap. Few of these pens were made and fewer survive, as owners often broke them by trying to unscrew the non-removable caps. Excellent condition, black hard rubber bright and glossy.
