6½x9½", bound by Pawson & Nicholson (stamp signed) in dark green morocco sides paneled with several borders & dentelle design, wide turn-ins elaborately gilt, moire satin endpapers, top edge gilt.
This is a collection of 13 offprints from journals of articles written by Hart. A family copy, with the name "Anita Hart" on blank. Hart was a lawyer, prolific author, and director (1882-1902) of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The biographies are of American historical figures (William Prescott, George Ticknor, Abraham Lincoln, Robert Morris). Pawson & Nicholson were important, fine American binders. James Nicholson wrote one of the earliest American bookbinding manuals.
