Scarce and important book on this Long Island, NY, golf club. Founded in 1891, the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club was the first incorporated golf club in America and the first to have a clubhouse, the first to allow women full membership, which it did from the beginning. It was one of the founding members of the USGA in 1894. And, in 1896, the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club held the second official U.S. Open. D&M 54180; D&J G31390.
