Inscribed in pencil by A.W. Tillinghast and signed with his initials, "From the first issue I contributed under the nom de plume "Hazard". I continued until the Spring of 1911, when I gave it up, giving the Public Ledger articles the preference...Besides the comments I sent in from time to time bits of doggerel, 'Mother Goose on the links' etc..." American Golfer was a leading golf magazine of the early 20th century and precursor to modern publications like Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. It includes news, feature articles, results and photography, and was published from 1908 to 1936. From the collection of A.W. Tillinghast via that of Theodore Prussing LeVino.
