Cattle Protection Board

356 pp. 200 x 105 mm. Red cloth stamped in black.

This book was published under the provisions of the Hide and Brand Law, sponsored by the cattlemen of California, in an attempt to "protect breeders and growers of cattle from theft..." and allow for registrations and other protections. For two years it was administered by the Cattle Protection Board, established in 1917, which was abolished in 1919. Cattle Protection Service thereafter became a part of the Department of Food & Agriculture.

Also included is a copy of the "brand and ear mark" of Frank Roach of Phelps Ranch, along with a questionable drawing of a cow.

Lot Amendments

Extremities rubbed, spine rubbed and worn, back cover stained; pages toned, some folded; overall very good.
