Classic American travel book, Latrobe spent two years in America, 1832-1833, and was an intimate friend of Washington Irving, with whom he toured New England and the Western states. The author was one of the earliest European travelers to visit and comment on the Great Plains, and there is a section on the "Santa Fe Traders." He also spent a great deal of time in the Southern states, visiting Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
