Gilliss, James Melville

A.O.P. Nicholson, Public Printer

2 volumes. Volumes I & II (of 4) only. xiii, [2], 556; ix, [3], 300 pp. Illustrated with 27 plates, 4 color plates, and 5 folding maps. (4to), 11¼x8¼", original pebble cloth pictorially stamped in blind and gilt with gilt spine titling. First Edition.

Report of an illuminating expedition to Chile and Argentina, the third official U.S. exploring expedition after those of Wilkes (to the Pacific) and Lynch (to Palestine).
