Scarce first edition, based on Adams' own account, of this story of one of the legendary California pioneers and mountain men. Greenwood notes that "Adams dictated his memoirs to Hittell at the Pacific Museum in San Francisco. Cowan regarded it as "probably the most popular work of its time issued in California". Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
