Rare first edition of this analysis of the wounds of Christ as found on the shroud of Turin, composed by Alfonso Paleotti (1531–1610) archbishop of Bologna. His discussion of the shroud is interspersed with a more forensic analysis of the sufferings endured by Jesus, by Daniel Mallonius, an Italian Hieronymite priest.

Lot Amendments

Some rubbing and extremity wear to covers; expert restoration to lower margins of the latter part of the book, repairing worm tracks; very good condition, quite clean.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
