The references are to William Perkins's A Reformed Catholike or a declaration shewing how neere we may come to the present church of Rome, first published in 1597, and to William Bishop's A Reformation of a Catholike Deformed, issued by the 'English secret press,' 1604. Scarce.

Anthony Wotton was an English clergyman and controversialist, of Puritan views. He was the first Gresham Professor of Divinity. Christopher Hill describes him as a Modernist and Ramist.

Good amount of darkening/soiling to vellum, splitting along spine; hinges reinforced, some notes and markings to endpapers, early ownership signature crossed over on title page, first few leaves with some minor chips and tears to edges, interior sound with general toning, etc.; good or better.
