  • Cossio, M.B. Lo Que se Sabe de la Vida del Greco. Signed by Martinez With an "Ex libris" drawing on the front pastedown. Madrid: Victoriano Suarez, 1914.
  • Twain, Mark. Extracts from Adam's Diary. "Ex Libris Xavier Martinez" in ink on front pastedown. Signed by Becky London (daughter of Jack) on the front free endpaper. Laid in is a photograph of Martinez painting a portrait of Jack London. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1904.
  • Maran, Rene. Batouala. "Xavier Martinez, his book" in ink on front pastedown, dated August 22, along with a drawing of a bird. Prospectus for the volume affixed to front free endpaper. First American Edition. New York: Thomas Seltzer, 1922.

Xavier Martínez (February 7, 1869 – January 13, 1943) was a California artist active in the late 19th and early 20th century. He was a well-known bohemian figure in San Francisco, the East Bay, and the Monterey Peninsula and one of the co-founders of two California artists' organizations and an art gallery. He painted in a tonalist style and also produced monotypes, etchings, and silverpoint.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
