Frontis and two plates by Robert Cruikshank. 8vo, original blind-stamped green cloth, gilt decorated and lettered spine. First Edition, a reprint with only three plates, as opposed to 12 in earlier issues.
A comic novel in the vein of the Mayhews, Douglas Jerrold, Thackeray and others by a minor Victorian writer. Tom Racquet was Manby's only published work, but it was popular and went through numerous printings. Apparently as publishers continued to issue the novel, they reduced the number of plates (or perhaps exhausted the supply). Wolff 4423a.
