Presentation copy inscribed and signed twice by George Sterling, and also inscribed by the actor Lionel Barrymore, and by Douglas Crane. 

Inscribed by Sterling on the front free endpaper, "To Myrtocleia, girl of old Greece, born to late to our ashen years. Dance, for there is perished music in your foot fall and voice! George, Los Angeles, Jan. 12, 1924"; and on the title page, "For Myrtocleia Childs, from George Sterling." Inscribed on the front pastedown, by Douglas Crane, "Telegraph Hill, Jan. 14 - 27 - George, Lionel and myself - San Francisco - in front of the fireplace - time 4 a.m.", typed label with Crane's name pasted below the inscription, and underneath that, "'Laugh Clown, Laugh'! L.B.", typed label with Barrymore's name pasted below.
