2 volumes. xii, 399, [1] pp.; viii, 398 pp. 5 aquatint plates; 2 maps (1 folding). (8vo), 22x14 cm., ¾ morocco with brown cloth; spine tooled and lettered in gilt with red and black spine labels.

Webster was the surgeon for this British expedition, which was sent to the southern waters off South America and Cape Horn to record pendulum observations and to chart Staten Island and the South Shetlands. The Chanticleer stopped at Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Patagonia, Staten Island, the South Shetland Islands, the Cape of Good Hope, St. Helena, and other South American ports.
