[8], 778, [90] pp. Frontis "Leo Belgique" map, 25 engravings, 30 engraved folding plates. (4to), rebound in ¼ brown leather with brick cloth, sewn on raised bands, red leather spine label; spine titled in gilt.

The portraits show the most famous Belgian - and also Spanish - gentlemen, rulers, and generals who played a role in the Dutch War of Independence against Spain. Numerous folding panels with views of the known battles and sieges. Includes "Leo Belgicus" map frontispiece, a map of Belgium and the Netherlands inscribed in the form of an upright Belgian lion.

Rebound in 1949 and heavily trimmed, though date of trimming is unclear; some wear to spine and exterior joints; tears to page 359, small tears throughout; severe foxing and offsetting to most pages; repair and loss to text in leaf n2 of appendix; overall very good.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
