Uncommon selection of views of Egypt, most apparently from Cairo but extending south up the Nile. Notable are the numerous street scenes, including peddlers and tradesmen, laborers, women, bazaars, cafes, water carriers, barbers, rug merchants, bedouins, a panorama of Cairo, Shepheard's Hotel, dervishes, boats on the Nile, interiors and exteriors of mosques, plus a pyramid or two. Thirty-nine of the albumen photographs are signed in the negatives by J.P. Sebah; five are signed by Feliks Bonfilx; and four by G. Lekegian. The color photochrom prints are quite striking, an early use of the new process. Laid in is an early manuscript itinerary for a trip from Cairo up the Nile to Khartoum, returning to Cairo then to Palestine, Port Said and eventually Naples. The album with manufacturer's label of Piltzer Mfg. Co. of Los Angeles on inside back cover; apparently assembled later from images acquired on the trip.
