[23], 626, [11] pp. With added engraved title page in architectural frame with accompanying minde of the front; headpieces, floriated initials. (4to) 18x13.5 cm (7x5¼"), early full calf. Second Edition "for the good of all such as well use it". 

William Gouge was an English minister and preacher at St Ann Blackfriars for 45 years and a member of the Westminster Assembly. According to Ann Thompson, The Whole Armor of God illustrates the shift from "transcendent faith" in William Perkins and Samuel Ward, to "immanent faith" in a succeeding generation of Puritan writers. Notes and doodles to endpapers from an early hand.

Moderate wear, rubbing and soiling, some cracks and chips, joints starting; internal backing sheets exposed at hinges, some dampstains, a few chipped leaves, darkening to some pages; very good.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
