  • Stone, Mrs. Alberta, ed. The Roanoke Cook Book: Favorite Recipes by Some of Roanoke's Good Housekeepers. Turquoise cloth lettered in white. First Edition. (Splatters along spine and area, else very good). [Roanoke]: Woman's Civic Betterment Club, 1907. Recipes include Roanoke ginger cake, peach catsup, pickled sweet cantaloupe, oyster a la Marguerite, chafing dish birds, etc. Several manuscript recipes to memoranda pages and in pencil to margins.
  • Virginia League of Women Voters. Virginia Cookery Book: Traditional Recipes. Illus. with great local ads. Pictorial white & blue boards. First Edition. (Period manuscript recipe laid-in loose. Soiling to covers, else about very good). Richmond: Virginia League of Women Voters, 1921. With a large bent toward suffrage, this wonderful cookbook contains recipes from all parts of the state, for baked Smithfield ham, barbecued hare, pickled mangoes, chow-chow, green pickled tomatoes, etc.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
