2 volumes in 1, continuous pagination. Two title pages printed in red & black, with engraved vignettes; 19 engraved portrait plates. [6], xlviii, 816 pp. (4to) 24.8x18.5 cm (9x7¼"), period calf, spine tooled in gilt, raised bands.

Record of  the 15th-century ecumenical council recognized by the Catholic Church, held from 1414 to 1418 in the Bishopric of Constance. The council ended the Western Schism by deposing or accepting the resignation of the remaining papal claimants and by electing Pope Martin V. The engraved plates include portraits of Friedrich Wilhelm, King of Prussia (the work's dedicatee), Jan Hus, Emperor Sigismund, Jean Gerson, and other participants in the Council. Ink ownership inscription at top of title page dated 1764. Bookplate.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
