Description:

vi, 168 + 2 ad pp. Copper-engraved frontispiece, engraved by H. Anderson after E. Burney; added engraved title-page (with variant title, The Stolen Boy: An Indian Tale). (32mo) 14.5x9 cm (5¾x3½"), period leather-backed marbled boards.

Account of Manuel del Perez's capture by the Comanche Indians in Texas, first published in the Juvenile Souvenir for 1828. The story was communicated to Mrs. Hofland by a Mr. Parker, who resided at Nachitoches at the period of the boy's return. Early gift inscription dated 1833 on front pastedown. Quite scarce

Wear and rubbing to boards, boards nearly detached but holding with bottom cord, loss to bottom third of spine; some leaves at front a bit loose but holding, ad and blank leaf at back detaching, interior otherwise generally solid.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
