xx, 331, [1] + [4] ad pp. With original signed watercolor frontispiece by the author, title page vignette and one illustrated plate. (4to), original quarter brown morocco and green cloth with author's facsimile signature in gilt, gilt spine, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt; some pages uncut. No. 6 of 25 copies of the "Author's Edition."

Inscribed and signed by the author on leaf following the title: "This edition is limited to 25 copies of which this is No. 6 - Hume Nisbet."  At the top corner of the same page is inscribed: "To dearest Lily with fondest love from Heliotrope - Oct. 13, '21." James Hume Nisbet was a Scottish-born novelist and artist, many of whose thrillers are set in Australia. He published 40 novels between 1888 and 1905. Hathor and Other Poems was the first volume featuring his poetic and dramatic works. 

Lot Amendments

Some wear and soiling to boards, areas of scuffing to leather, some dampstaining to rear board; frontispiece and title page detached together and laid in, interior otherwise solid with scattered bits of light foxing; very good.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
