Two volumes. Engraved vignettes throughout chiefly after work by J.M.W. Turner and Thomas Stothard. 8vo, original binding - paper covered boards with printed paper spine label. First Editions with these illustrations (of both books) and the first complete edition of Italy in one volume. 

Executed by some of the  best line-engravers of the day. Most importantly, they include Edward Goodall (1795-1870), William Finden (1787-1852), and Wm. Bernard Cooke (1778-1855). Italy has the announcement of an earlier edition of the Poems; and Poems has three pages of Moxon ads (dated Dec. 1, 1833). These two works were originally issued in 1822-1823, and in 1812. 


Lot Amendments

Chipping to spine ends; Italy has an unidentified bookseller's description tipped-in; Poems has a 1833 and 1835 prior owner signatures. Italy has an 1830 inscription.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
