4-page flyer, single sheet folded. 20.2x14.5 cm (8x5¾").
Political leaflet satirizing the perceived arrogance and utopianism of Upton Sinclair, candidate for governor of California, 1934 and his E.P.I.C. plan. Two pages of the flyer are devoted to text written as if by Sinclair, e.g. "In the first year I plan to eliminate poverty, after that I should have ample time during by four years as governor to eliminate bad morals, infantile paralysis, halitosis, athlete's foot and the other evils that have been forced upon us by big business." N.U.T.S. stand for National Union of Technocrats and Socialists, and the platform of Upton Sinclair, here called Ulysees Stupnale, the Pied Piper of Pasadena, is distilled to "F.B.O.S" or "Free Beer on Sundays." On the fourth page is a call to retain as governor the Republican Frank F. Merriam, "and save California from The Nuts." OCLC lists only one copy, at Santa Clara University, but seems to be an "internet resource."
