2 volumes bound in 1. viii, 223; [4], 183 pp. (8vo) 20.7x12 cm (8¼x4¾"), period calf, spine ruled in gilt, morocco lettering pieces. A New Edition, improved and greatly enlarged.

One of the great  books on chess strategy, the moves described with explanatory notes. François-André Danican Philidor (1726-1795), a French composer, was regarded as the finest chess player of his age. This copy includes the subscriber list and the abbreviations, which are sometimes lacking. Bookplate of G.W.F. Gregor, sometime Esquire of Cornwall, and lord of the manor at Trewarthenick House.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
