xi, [1], 496 pp. Illustrated from drawings, diagrams, etc.; frontispiece portrait of Nikola Tesla from a photograph. 23.3x14.3 cm (9¼x14"), original cloth. Second Edition.
Important study and analysis of the work of the Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. The first, second and third editions were all published in 1894, with the same imprint and collation - all three editions are scarce.
The work includes three lectures by Tesla: 1. Experiments with alternate currents of very high frequency, and their application to methods of artificial illumination, delivered before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers at Columbia College, N.Y., May 20, 1891 -- 2. Experiments with alternate currents of high potential and high frequency, delivered before the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, Feb. 3, 1892 -- 3. On light and other high frequency phenomena, delivered before the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, Feb., 1893, and before the National Electric Light Association, St. Louis, March, 1893.
