A ribald, some would say pornographic, parody of Alexander Pope's Essay on Man, begun by Thomas Potter in the 1750's, the manuscript inherited by his friend John Wilkes, who modified it and complete it. Fearful of publishing for reasons of libel and legal persecution, the manuscript kicked around before being published in 1788, apparently in Stuttgart, and not Aberdeen. The present edition is a very limited reprint.
