[4], 84, [2], 70, [2], 71-192, [2], 140 pp. With 70 of 86 engraved plates illustrating the technique and equipment of fishing. (Folio) 44x29 cm (17¼x11½"), period full calf with gilt red morocco lettering pieces, raised bands, marbled endpapers. First Edition.

Lacking plates 9-21 in Section I, plates 18 and 34 in Section II, and plate 15 in Section III. Part of a series published by the Académie des Sciences entitled Descriptions des Arts et Métiers. Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau was a French physician, naval engineer and botanist.

Binding worn, chips at spine ends with joints starting, rubbing and abrasions; front hinge cracked, occasional spots and stains within, more pronounced staining to plates VI-IX and XIII-XIV in Section II; overall about very good.
