Included here are vintage stanhopes of various designs. most containing scenes of nature or various city landmarks, a few with short religious texts rather than a photographic scene. Stanhopes or Stanho-scopes are optical devices that enable the viewing of microphotographs without using a microscope. They were invented by René Dagron in 1857.
