xii, 824 pp. Edited by A. H. Sayce. Translated by M. L. McClure. Illustrated throughout with etchings, maps, and three original colored lithographs. 25.7x18.5 cm. (10x7.25"), 26.4x19 cm. (10.5x7.5") Period full blue calf and boards ruled in gilt and blindstamped, gilt front cover and decorative spine, raised bands, red morocco label, gilt edges and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, mounted and signed book plate inside front cover, bound by Riviere & Son. Printed by William Clowes & Sons. 

The third and conclusory volume of Maspero's History of the Ancient People of the Classic East. Although amble with illustrators, the true beauty is in the guilded binding.

Lot Amendments

Faint sticker residue on bottom right-hand corner of front cover, some minor denting to boards; some foxing on endsheets, first and last pages, otherwise interior in near fine condition; very good or better.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
