Complete works of Jacob Cats; Dutch poet, humorist, jurist and politician, most famous for his emblem books. Originally published in 1655. The complete collection of his poems is said to have sold around 50,000 copies, and was reputedly the only book, other than the Bible, to be found in many Dutch homes.
Condition:
Good amount of soiling and staining to vellum; interior with general toning, scattered light foxing, one page with most of text illustration lacking, repaired with blank paper, loss to text filled in manuscript, a few other scattered repairs; overall very good.
