The compiler's obituary reads in part, "Hugh J. Schuck, who retired as cable editor of The New York Daily News, in charge of stories filed by cable, on Dec. 7, 1969, after 35 years with the paper, died today in the Houston Methodist Medical Center, apparently of a heart attack. He was 76 years old and made his home in King of Prussia, Pa. He had been a correspondent and an editor in the United States and the Far East before joining The News. He also had been a soldier in World War I and a war correspondent and had been an aide to Herbert Hoover on postwar relief."
