The Royal Book of Oz

[Thompson, Ruth Plumly]. Baum, L. Frank

Reilly & Lee

312 pp. Illustrated with 12 inserted color plates plus numerous black & white illustrations by John R. Neill. 22.9x16.5 cm (9x6½ inches). Gray cloth, color pictorial cover label; black & white pictorial endpapers. First Edition, First State.

Despite the cover & title page - book almost entirely authored by Thompson, this was done by the publisher to ease transition to the new 'Royal Historian'. Identifiable as first state by misprinted caption for plate facing p. 255 "Scarecorw's" instead of "Scarecrow's" (Bienvenue & Schmidt p. 102).
