Whitney's campaign for a transcontinental railroad was influential and strongly supported in this publication, but sectional controversy over slavery postponed it. One large map shows the world, the other, North America, with three possible lines of railroads across the continent.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
