Bound manuscript on parchment. Hand-colored full page coat of arms composed of four separate heraldic shields, each of which is presented separately and smaller in text; thematic title with gilt bordered seal of Carlos III affixed; hand-colored headpieces, historiated hand-colored gilt initials, silk guard leaves. (Small folio) 31x20.4 (12¼x8"), period speckled calf ruled on spine in gilt, marbled endpapers.

Text within ruled border executed in a neat secretarial hand, concerning the nobility of Pedro Antonio de la Sota Arce Rubalcaba y Ontañon. Signatures with seals of Ramon Zazo y Ortega, historian and king of arms to Carlos III, and Vicente Lorenzo Verdugo.

Lot Amendments

Rubbing to edges and corners with some dampstaining to somewhat bowed boards; light dampstaining along edges and gutters of rear blank and endpaper, occasional spots; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail. We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
